Magsi, who hails from Thatta in the southern Sindh province, assists his uncle in his fish farm and engaged himself in self-trained long jump skills while making TikTok videos by night. The 21-year-old talented Magsi belongs from a deprived family of 10 and has never been professionally trained. Moreover, Magsi could not make it feasible to keep his education continue due to financial strains, and has only studied until the eighth grade.

The Army’s rumoured snooping in Thatta-based Magsi came after President Pakistan Athletics Federation had first decided to invite him to Lahore for training. Pakistani Goes Viral with videos of long jumps over Motorcycles and Lakes
Magsi told Arab News in a phone interview:
“I got a phone call from AFP president Major General Akram Sahi to come to Lahore for training. I am planning to go to Lahore in a couple of days and I am very happy.”
Magsi opens up about his Playful Talent
“I could jump over five motorcycles parked in a row but can now cross eleven, as seen in a viral video on various social media platforms. I was unaware of long jump records but could cross nearly 25 feet or 7.6 meters. The world record for the long jump is 8.95 meters while the Asian record is 8.33 meters. I was not expecting my video made almost a week ago will get so much attention, I wanted to represent Pakistan at international games. Now everyone in my family and people in the area is happy.”
In an interview to local media, the national athletics federation chairman said,
“I had called Magsi and asked him to stop performing stunts as he could injure himself. Instead, I have asked him to meet me in Lahore along with his father. There is no denying the fact that Asif has amazing potential and now we want to channelize this potential into a medal-winning one at the Asian and world level. The AFP will train him and look after him. A coach will be deputed with him so that he can get the most modern and latest coaching on how to improve on his talent.”

Magsi’s innocence regarding Olympic Champion Carl is amusing, he told The Indian Express
“I didn’t know who Carl Lewis was. Everyone was calling me and congratulating me that Carl Lewis has commented on your video but I was like, ‘Who’s Carl?’ Then I googled his name and I was shocked beyond explanation. It was the happiest moment of my life.”
So, when Lewis, a four-time Olympic gold victor in the long jump event, commented about his video on Twitter, made Magsi a real star.
