Recently, a notification was circulated in the Premises of UET Lahore. As per the Notification, The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) has issued a new order that Male and Female Students are not allowed to sit together in the Cafeteria of University. The Notification has caused an uproar on Social Media. Later on, it was withdrawn after Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar took notice of the news. UET Lahore had been under Hot Water many times before. In March, they issued a notification forbidding female students from wearing “Jeans” and “Deep-Neck” shirts. Female students were told they would be fined for wearing anything but “Shalwar”. They would be fined for wearing “Trousers” or “Tights”. After outrage from Social Media, the UET administration withdrew the notification.
UET Lahore Issued Gender Segregation Notification in Cafeteria
Earlier on 6th September, a notification signed by the Deputy Registrar at UET Lahore said that the university had directed the administration to make separate sitting arrangements for male and female students.
“Vice-Chancellor has ordered that separate sitting arrangements with suitable partition be made for male and female students with immediate effect. In this regard, necessary measures should be taken forthwith. The Vice-Chancellor will make surprise visits to check these arrangements.”
As per the Notification, Vice-Chancellor will even occasionally visit the Canteen and Cafeteria to ensure that Segregation is being Implemented.

UET Lahore Administration is Facing Backlash after the Notification
Nonetheless, University is Facing Severe Criticism from People across the Country for Focussing on “Gender Segregation” instead of fixing the Academic Issues.

UET Lahore Withdraws Notification of Separate Sittings for Male & Female Students
Prof Dr. Mansoor Sarwar, the vice-chancellor, claimed that he didn’t know anything about the notification. So, he withdrew the Notification immediately as the News got Deeper.
The Notification was circulated without the approval or consent of Administration. He said disciplinary action will be taken against the official who issued the notification without any consultation.
