Coronavirus pandemic has imposed-lockdown across the globe aversely and to ensure caution to prevent its spread. In Pakistan, schools are being closed since 10th March 2020. Now, with COVID spread reducing, government is thinking to open the Schools. Punjab Government Issue SOPs Related To Re-Opening Of Schools

The government tried to compensate for the missed curriculum via Telelearning launched on PTV and e-learning via the internet. Now the leaked news is to resume learning activities from September 15th by strictly abiding SOP’s announced by the government.

Punjab’s Education minister Murad Raas told to SAMAA TV,

“The situation is changing every day and every week. Schools will be told to follow the SOPs if they are allowed to open. Only 20 children will be allowed in a class, he added. However, the decision would only be made if the coronavirus situation becomes manageable. The virus has so far killed 1,844 people in Punjab, while the total number of known cases has reached 80,297, according to the provincial health department.”

Punjab Government Issue SOPs Related To Re-Opening Of Schools

On Thursday Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood announced in a press conference

“Educational institutions across the country will reopen after a nearly five-month hiatus on September 15. Further discussions will be held on the matter and authorities will review the decision in August in light of the coronavirus situation in the country. If the crisis not curbed, schools and universities will not be opened.”

  • No ill student, specifically with coronavirus symptoms, will be permitted to enter school premises
  • Students and teachers will wear face masks
  • Daily temperature screening will be made mandatory
  • Hand sanitizers will be placed in classes
  • The school will opt an obligatory stance to disinfected the building daily before opening for students
  • All outdoor activities, for instance, leisure time, sports and school assembly will be restricted in school premises
  • One-meter distance should be maintained between the student desks
  • Sturdy links should be sustained with the health care system of the government
  • Special focus should be on major subjects English, Maths, and Science

Parents Respond Diversely on Government Decision

Education minister further states

“Pakistan Coronavirus Cases Tally Hit 243,594 With 5,058 Deaths. Schools could not open in July as Eidul Azha will be celebrated by the end of the month and in August the country will observe Ashura. The SOPs will be put in place before the opening of educational institutions and that authorities were mulling over several options. The government is looking at several options including scheduling classes for different standards on alternate days, and there were also suggestions for holding classes in the open air.”
