Khatoon who was in her 20’s, got severe burns. It was started when a hell-born poured kerosene over her in Rasoolpur village on October 30. Gulnaz fought with her destiny for a few hours. Though a family member of Khatoon incriminated that,
“The police delayed in taking action against the accused. The accused are identified as Satish Kumar Rai, Chandan, and Vinod Rai.”
According to the sources,
“The girl was brought to the local hospital with nearly 75% burn injuries. She was later moved to Patna Medical College Hospital, where the girl eventually passed away.”
Shaimuna, mother of the poor girl said,
“We want Justice. It has been 17 days but there has hardly been any progress. They did not consider our complaint. We are powerless, we have no one to help us.”
According to the injured party,
“Satish Kumar Rai had been harassing Gulnaz to marry him. But Gulnaz refused to enter into an interfaith marriage with Rai. It makes Rai mad and he and his friends killed the poor girl. After the death of Khatoon on Sunday, her family staged bickering at a city square to call for punishment.”
#JusticeForGulnaz trending on social media
Twitter is in a huff all over India, and #JusticeForGulnaz has been trending on Twitter as people articulated their anger at the delay in registering the case against the criminals.
20-year-old Gulnaz was burnt alive because she resisted harassment. The news didn’t cover it, because her religion, and that of her murderers, didn’t fit the narrative being fed to us. Instead, we criminalise inter-faith marriages. #JusticeForGulnaz – justice, if there is any.

India is a nether world for battering crimes
It is bungling to observe rape cases in India. In 2012, the world saw an extreme hellacious kind of rape case, where a 23-year-old lost her life in Delhi. Four men raped a girl in India’s capital city.
Since the 2012 Delhi rape case, some prominent incidents involving sexual assault and rape are Shakti Mill Gang-Assault (2013), Birbum Gang-Assault Case (2014), Kamduni Gang-Assault and Murder Case (2013), Bantala Assault Case (2013), and the Ajmer Assault Case (2016).
There is a stack of mugging cases that could not get media coverage. Human rights activists should take strong action against the incessant savagery spread wall-to-wall in one of the largest democracies of the world.
