The news is ridiculously disgusting and swags the country’s name on global spheres. Police arrested a senior PML-N leader Tanveer Bibi for brutalizing and smacking a lady constable outside an accountability court in the limits of Islampura police station. 

The Plot of the Crime

The police had booked the PML-N MPA on the complaint of anti-riot force constable Anam Fatima. Explaining the incident, Fatima said,

“The accused along with five other unknown women tried to enter the court without permission and the PML-N leader slapped me when I tried to stop them. The politician and her accomplice also threatened me and another lady official. “

A first-hand Information Report (FIR) at Islampura police station was lodged on the complaint of constable Anam Fatima. Five unidentified persons, including Tanveer Bibi, have been nominated in the case, which includes the charges of obstruction of government process and assault.

Soon after the incident, the police reached MPA Tanveer and asked her to apologize to the lady constable to which she repudiated fully. Police made arrangements to arrest senior politicians after seeking approval from the Speaker Punjab Assembly.

It should be strongly condemned as incidents involving politicians assaulting citizens are not unprecedented. In November last year, a PTI member had come under fire for slapping a woman. Poignantly, the man was later appointed as the district coordinator for the Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) in Sahiwal.

The law is the same for everyone inscribed in the constitution books of the country. But when it comes to law enforcement grades, status, ranks, and family positions hinder justice.
