Students from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) have developed a mobile application called ‘Lahori Khoji’ to provide guided tours of the Walled City of Lahore. The proclamation about the launch of the application was made by Dr. Ali Usman Qasmi, who is a professor and historian at LUMS.
To develop a walking trail for the gate assigned to them, the students read classical texts on Lahore’s history, made several trips to the walled city, identified key sites, pinned them on google maps, and wrote historical notes about them. #walkinginlahore #LahoriKhoji

While sharing details of the mobile app on social media, Ali Usman said,
“students designed the app and researched its content as part of a course offered at LUMS. The app is available to download from Play Store, was launched as part of World Heritage Day (April 18) celebrations.”

The students also received help from Faizan Abbas Naqvi, who supported the students in designing the app. The professor also shared details and asked the audience to let him know about any query.
“The students are not qualified historians, hence, in case of any technical error or misinformation, the students are open to suggestions to improve the application.”
It is undoubtedly a piece of great news that students at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) have designed an intricate smartphone application that provides guided tours of Lahore’s Walled City. The students who developed the application had conducted heavy research on the topic before designing and developing the app.
The smartphone app called ‘Lahori Khoji’ was released on World Heritage Day on 18 April 2021 and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
